Tricare & Hormone Replacement Therapy

Does Tricare cover hormone replacement therapy? This is one of the most frequently asked questions I get. Yes! But they won’t tell you how, how much, and via what means. So I am here writing the user manual from my own experience, talking to many providers, Tricare itself, and others who have successfully navigated the system too on Active Duty, Prime, and of course Select.

I have personally used Select to get testosterone replacement therapy for 2.5 years. It has been hugely impactful to my quality of life while I work on my root cause issues. Tricare covers HRT incredibly well. I paid $96 last year to get TRT for the entire year! Tricare covers the appointment, labs, and one form of replacement, making this treatment so cost effective and widely available. But sadly most people don’t know about it. So here I am trying to spread the word as far and wide as I can.

It is also possible to get HRT/TRT on Prime, both for AD and beneficiaries. I will say getting it for AD seems somewhat difficult.
